 | It's all about the operating
system.
The eco-friendly heart of the Mitsubishi i
is an integrated management system we call Mitsubishi innovative Electric
Vehicle (MiEV) technology. The result of four decades of research, the central
MiEV operating system constantly monitors and optimizes the flow of energy
throughout the car.
The result is an exhilarating blend of
performance and economy in just about any driving condition. MiEV technology
creates smooth and constant acceleration. It distributes incoming energy from
the regenerative brakes. And it continually regulates the output from the
battery. Simply put, MiEV is an automatic copilot that ensures all systems are,
well, green. |
 | 40 years of EV development.
Experience? Check.
This isn't our first
all-electric trip around the block. Mitsubishi has been developing electric
vehicles for decades. It all began with the Minica EV back in 1971. Our
innovation was immediately put to the test in Japan, as we provided power
companies and the government more than 150 Minica EVs that cleanly and quietly
got the job done.
The years progressed, and we developed
more electric models, continually refining battery and motor technologies in a
relentless drive toward greater efficiency. One of the key transitions occurred
in the mid-90s with our industry-changing move from lead-acid batteries to a
higher-performance, light-weight, longer-lasting lithium-ion battery pack. This
leap, along with other breakthroughs along the way, made the current power
source of the Mitsubishi i (and our targeted 85-mile range*) possible. Ah,
progress. |
